Looking to escape the city traffic without going too far out of town? Gardener's Wall is home of some of the most classic, moderate trad routes in Phoenix. This crag has routes that range from 5.3-5.11 and provides an opportunity for climbers to experience a variety of outstanding climbing in the McDowells. Gardener's Wall will challenge it's climbers and provide opportunities for all levels!

A Thoughtful Day on Tom's Thumb

Tom's Thumb is a prominent feature in Scottsdale, visible for miles in all directions. This 140-foot granite feature sits on the Ridgeline of the McDowell Mountains and is home to over fifteen different routes to reach its summit. The burly approach is well-worth the climbing and experience of sitting atop such a striking feature in the Phoenix area.  This is the perfect opportunity to take in the views of the Valley from a different perspective.

Ready to climb higher, with spectacular views? Maybe you are ready to get off the beaten path and explore more of The McDowell's? After taking a moderate approach to the Sven Towers and then cresting onto the top of the Eastern Ridgeline by ascending one of the several spires, you will see the vast expanse of Four Peaks Wilderness Area, Superstitions, and the Verde River Valley!
