Tom's Thumb is one of the most iconic features in the Northeast Valley of Phoenix, AZ. It is popular for hiking to the base of the feature as well as rock climbing to the summit. There are a variety of routes that have a range of easy, moderate, and more difficult.
The cooler months in the Sonoran Desert provide the perfect climate to take in the views of the city from the top of this prominent feature. The approach and descent can feel a more strenuous than the crags closer to the parking lot, but well worth it! Common Trip Itinerary Since there is a plentiful amount of great climbing routes in The McDowell's, we work with our clients to create a personalized climbing trip that caters to their skillset and aspirations.
