Just outside of the local Prescott region, to the North lies Arizona's highest peak, Mount Humphrey's (12,635'). The base of this peak seasonally gets over 100" of snowfall a year and provides excellent opportunities to hone in snow skills for the Cascade Volcanos and to prepare yourself for venturing into the nearby San Juan Mountains of Southern Colorado.
COURSE OUTCOMES Our two-day Alpine Snow and Ice Skills Course is designed for those who are new to alpine snow and ice climbing, would like to experience what mountaineering has to offer, and gain valuable skills for future high-mountain adventures. This is the perfect course to learn the critical skills necessary to summit Mt. Shasta in Northern California or Mt. Baker in the Cascade Range.
