Mac's BioGuide | Owner
Growing up in the desert of Arizona, Mac learned how to appreciate the unique landscape by placing himself in it. Climbing in the granite hills of The McDowell's over 15 years ago, his climbing career has only grown from there. Mac has traveled to far away climbing destinations for any type of climbing and cultural experience, all while working towards his American Mountain Guides Association Rock & Alpine Guide Certifications. Incorporating his passions of the outdoors and education, Mac started Granite Mountain Guides with the anticipation of providing a quality learning experience for new climbers looking to push their personal boundaries. It is continuing to evolve into an organization that caters to all disciplines, whether recreational or instructional. Before starting Granite Mountain Guides, LLC, Mac found himself in Prescott to attend the local University to complete his degree in Aerospace Engineering. Furthermore, he has worked locally in several rolls as an outdoor-based educator for youth and adults through a local outdoor school and Prescott College. Mac is often out exploring new trails by bike when he isn't out in the mountains. Mac is a Wilderness First Responder, American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) Apprentice Alpine Guide (Alpine Guide Course), formerly certified Single-Pitch Instructor. Additionally, Mac has completed his Level 1, 2, & Companion Rescue Avalanche Courses and is an Affiliate Member of the American Avalanche Association (AAA). |
